My name is Nicholas Monroe, and I am Texas-based muralist and public artist. I'm known for my vivid, large-scale work that blends present-day realism with modern industrial flair. I began painting in 2017 and transitioned into a full-time creative practice in 2020. Since then, my work has transformed walls into vibrant installations that spark imagination, engage communities, and invite wonder.
I approach each project as a conversation—between space, story, and the people who move through both. I believe art should be immersive, interactive, and emotionally resonant, encouraging viewers to reconnect with their imaginations. I'm drawn to the edge where the unreal meets the ordinary, pushing to expand what’s possible through play, movement, and meaningful public engagement.
Defined by bold colors, wide gradients, and energetic compositions, my style brings life and motion to everything from portraits to city-scale murals. My evolving practice now includes interactive and tactile elements, inviting people to not just view art, but experience it. Whether through paint or sculpture, my work transforms public spaces into shared stories—making art that feels alive, accessible, and deeply human.
I love bringing the community into my projects. There’s something powerful about creating artwork in public spaces—places people pass by every day, places they belong to. I believe art should be accessible, alive, and connected to the people who live around it. That’s why I invite community members to join in the process, to pick up a brush and be part of the story. It’s a beautiful thing to witness—neighbors coming together to make something lasting. To me, that’s real impact: making something with people, for the place they call home. include acrylic, oil, watercolor, spray paint, and UV paint. I build with wood, vinyl, and steel; sometimes I light it all up with neon. I blend digital with the hand-drawn. I paint, draw, shoot, design, and experiment—no material is off-limits.

a multidisciplinary artist working across visual, media, and performing arts. I'm a muralist, painter, sculptor, illustrator, photographer, filmmaker, and maker—blending traditional craft with technology to create bold work.
I collaborate with fellow artist Jonah LaMonica through Scribewerks. Together, we take on large-scale mural and installation work, often bringing in other artists, builders, and craftspeople to help bring the vision to life. It’s about working as a collective, combining our skills to make something bigger than any of us could do alone. Visit our instagram here.
I invite people of all ages—from kids to seniors—to join in on my mural projects and workshops. I love showing folks how to paint, guiding them through the creative process, and watching them light up when they realize they can do it. It’s a chance to build something together, to reconnect with imagination, and to leave a lasting mark on the community. Vist my artist profile on the city website.
I’m also a builder. I’ve worked in construction and painting, and I genuinely enjoy the hands-on side of making things real. I run a make-ready painting business called Paint Joy—because I think work can be creative, and business can be playful. Whether it’s building out a space or building out an idea, I’m always experimenting with new ways to bring art and life together.
